Optimization of magnetic field parameters in e-TPC detector for ELI-NP with GEANT4 simulation toolkit(pdf)
One of the experiments planned in the new emerging ELI-NP (Extreme Light Infrastracture-Nuclear Physics) research facility in Romania will try to improve the meaurement of oxygen fusion cross section and therefore give a better understanding of processes occuring inside starts. To achieve this goal a very intense and brilliant gamma beam will be hitting the oxygen atoms bounded in CO2 molecules, which at the same time will operate as a constituent of TPC detector working gas. One of the problems which this experimental setup will have to face are the electrons produced in the Kapton window through which the beam will enter the detector's active volume. For the precision of measurement getting rid of any background signal is extremely important. To solve the problem a metal pipe was added in front of detector chamber to wipe out the electrons with magnetic field before they will reach the active volume. The exact position and induction of the field were optimized with Geant4 simulations
